Áåëîðóññêèé äåòñêèé õîñïèñ

On Wednesday, October 14, 2009, the press center of newspaper «Argumenty i Facty» at Khmelnitsky Street 7, held a press conference with the participation of employees of public charity organization «Belarusian Children's Hospice». The theme of the press conference was the issue of palliative care for children in the Republic of Belarus. Our organization was represented by Director — Anna G. Gorchakova, head nurse — Ekaterina L. Panchenko, a specialist in raising funds and resources — Maxim A. Podberezkin, as well as mother and grandmother of children who were under the care of hospice. State health system was represented by Elena Bogdan — the Head of Medical Care for Mothers and Children Department of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus.

A number of topics were discussed — from the role and significance of hospice care in the sphere of social service to the implementation of a state project (of the state demand) for rendering social service to the citizens. Guests and participants agreed that (the) hospice care is necessary and it's work deserves the assistance  of the government at least in amount of 25-30% of hospice's budget. This would enable the hospice to look ahead with confidence, and the state would be able to get the highest standards of palliative care for population with minimum investments.

The discussion lasted over an hour and now we anticipate publications in newspaper «Argumenty i Fakty» as well as in other belarusian periodicals.
