Representative Office of Child Fund International in the Republic of Belarus (formerly Christian Child Fund)

A social respite care unit, the first of its kind in Belarus, was opened at the Belarusian Children's Hospice in 2009.  The unit allows parents to have some rest whilst a sick or disabled child stays at the hospice for a period of 5 to 14 days with round the clock care provided entirely by the hospice.  The results of setting up the unit were very positive and we are planning to facilitate conditions for similar units to be successfully established at the state and non-governmental organisations of Belarus in 2010.  This is particularly topical in light of the current commissioning of social services by the government of Belarus.
